Dog Days Still

I am still on the quest for the perfect
dog.  This one reminds me of the dog my step-brother had....a friendly pooch called "Lady"
that loved to chew your shoes!
I played with the idea of collage but decided just to use the collage paper on the background .
I may still add a few layers of paint to the dog to add some reflected background colors. but I am off to a good start with the acrylic paints .

There will not be a lot of art time this week since I am getting ready for the holidays and a visit from family....so my artistic creations may have to come from the kitchen!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND MAY 2015 BE A GREAT NEW YEAR FOR EVERYONE.

Gone to the Dogs

With cooler and wetter weather I have painted indoors
more recently and experimented with mixed media to
try different approaches to creating the texture of doggie
fur.  I have used collage papers, light molding paste and
application of other texture scraps that I have retained
for mixed media collage.  Some animals really lend themselves
to using the texture.  I previously used some of these techniques
when I painted some sheep.

It is another fun option to try when you paint your favorite furry friends.

I have to admit I am a dog person so I have enjoyed working on these pieces.
