Painting Plein Air with Pastels

Cold and wind did not prevent a morning of plein air painting in
SW Virginia since I knew that I would have very few opportunities to capture anything of color left before all the leaves
hit the ground. This was a lovely area in West Salem to capture
some panoramic views.
Although I usually paint in oils, I decided to capture the scene in pastels which turned out to be a good choice since I wanted to
paint quickly so I did not stay in the cold/wind for a long period of
time.

Historic barn circa 1800's

The Double Line Painters decided to take a tour of some of Bedford County to capture the beauty of the historical barn.
Our plans are to participate  in the program to record and to do  paintings of the historical barns of this county with a major
exhibition of these paintings in August 2014.

If you know of historic barns that would be included in this county's registry, contact us through the individual artist blogspot
or the doublelinepaintersoftheblueridge.blogspot.com.
