Painting Reflective Surfaces

Do you enjoy painting the reflections seen in water and light?  I find
this to be a liberating experience to play with the color as it dances over the surface of the canvas or paper.  When using the acrylic paints, I often mix a bit of the interference paints with my colors to give a sheen that is often seen on wet surfaces.

My recent painting "Rainy Day reflections" used this technique
to play with color on the streets of the city.

Best wishes for everyone to have a safe, happy and enjoyable holiday season.

          Texture with Acrylics

I recently decided to add plaster to the canvas surface
to give an interesting look for paintings that called for
texture.  This worked well for this scene from Italy
with the rough texture of both the building and the
roadway.

I applied the plaster and let it cure on the canvas board
surface.  The board prevents flexing as on a stretched
canvas.  After it cured, I added gel medium, letting it dry
and then proceeded with my painting.

I plan to display the work at 2nd Helpings Gallery in
Roanoke
